Five-Year Secondary Programme and Intermediate Course in Islamic Studies
(Full-time)

This programme is offered to students who have completed a primary school education. A comprehensive secular and Islamic syllabus is taught up to ‘O' Level. Subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Computer Studies, Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Principles of Business, Principles of Accounts, Arabic Language, Islamic Juris-prudence, Islamic Beliefs, Islamic History, Quraanic Studies, Hadith Studies, Translation of Quraan and Hadith and Intonation and Memorization of the Holy Quraan.


Eight-Year Aalim Programme (B.A. Degree in Islamic Studies)
(Full-time)

Upon the successful completion of the five-year programme, students can continue for a further three years in order to complete a B.A. Degree Course (Aalim). This further three-year programme consists of extensive studies in Hadith, Tafseer, Fiqh, Balaagha, Miraath (Islamic Inheritance), Seerah, Islamic History, Islamic Beliefs, Usool of Hadith, Usool of Fiqh and Usool of Tafseer. A’ level subjects are also offered along with the programme.


Five-year Aalim Programme
(Full-time)

This programme is offered to students who have a desire to study only Islamic studies after successfully completing their academic studies elsewhere. It culminates in the award of the B.A. Degree in Islamic Studies (Aalim).


Al Faadil Associate Degree Programme

This is an Associate Degree Programme conducted at Darul Uloom on a part-time basis. It is an extensive course in higher Islamic Studies (such as Tafseer, Hadith, Islamic Beliefs and Islamic Jurisprudence) culminating in an Associate Degree in Islamic Studies called the Al Faadhil Associate Degree.


Hifdh Course

This is a programme where students can fulfill their desire of memorizing the entire Holy Quraan. They are guided through the memori-zation of the entire Quraan by qualified teachers, thus earning the title of Haafidh of the Quraan.


Tajweed and Qaari Course

This is a special course in which students are taught to recite the Holy Quraan in the best possible manner with all its rules and regulations. Students are tutored by qualified Qurraa of the Holy Quraan and upon successful completion can also qualify as Qaari.


Part-time Programmes

Many programmes such as Arabic Language, Tajweed, Quraanic Reading, Hadith Studies, Commentary of the Holy Quraan and Laws of Shariah etc. are offered to the public during the academic year at both the Boys' and Girls' Colleges.


Post S.E.A. Course

The Darul Uloom Boys' and Girls' Colleges conduct a Post S.E.A. Course in Islamic Studies for the last school term after the S.E.A. Examination. This course includes Recitation and Memorization of the Holy Quraan, the Biography of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.), Arabic Language, Islamic History, General Knowledge of Quraan, Hadith and Islamic Jurisprudence on the five pillars of Islam, Mathematics and English Language.


Vacation Programme (July)

Both the Boys' and Girls' Colleges conduct a two-week vacation programme in Islamic Studies for students of secondary schools in the month of July. This course includes Islamic History, Islamic Beliefs, Quraanic Studies, Hadith Studies, Islamic Jurisprudence, Recitation and Memorization of the Holy Quraan and Arabic Language.


Boarding Facilities

One of the unique features of the Boys' and Girls' Colleges is the boarding facilities which are offered to both foreign and local students.

Students who stay on the compound are able to remain in an Islamic environment which ensures five times Salaah etc. Local students stay from Monday to Friday and meals, dormitory and washing facilities are provided. Limited space is available, especially in the Girls' College so applications should be made early.

ISLAMIC EDUCATION AT THE DARUL ULOOM

The Darul Uloom Institute is an Educational one which offers Secondary Academic and Islamic Education as well as Tertiary Islamic Education.

The Institute comprises of two Colleges, Boys and Girls, and offers a wide range of Secular and Islamic subjects.

The secular subjects are taught along with the syllabus of Islamic Studies, after which students write the CXC and London Exams.

The following O’ Level subjects are taught at the Colleges for a period of (5) years.

Arabic Language Advanced level

A Study of the most reliable and authentic commentaries of the Holy Quraan, namely:

  1. Tafseer Jalaalain - An authentic exegesis of the Holy Quraan written by the great exegetes Irnam Abdur Rahman Jalaluddeen As Suyuti (died 911 A.H./1490 A.D.) and Imam Muhammad Jalaluddeen Al Mahalli. (Died 864 A.H./1443 A.D.)
  2. Tafseer Ibn Katheer - An authentic exegesis and Commentary of the Holy Quraan written by the great commentator (of Al Quraan) Hafiz Ismail Irnadudeen Abul Rida Ad Damakshi commonly known as Hafiz Ibn Katheer. (Died 774 A.H.11353 A.D.)

Extensive and indepth study of ‘Islamic law and Jurisprudence’:

Text used - Al-Hidaayah - A comprehensive book dealing with each and every aspect of the ‘Islamic Law System’ and Jurisprudence in Islam. It was written by the great Jurist Abu Hassan Ali Ibn Abi Bakr. (Died 593 A.H/ 1072 A.D)

A Study of the six most reliable and authentic compilations of the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (U.W.B.P), namely:

  1. The compilation of Al-Bukaari - A compilation of 9.000 traditions written by the great traditionist Muhammad Ibn Ismail Al Bukhari (Died 256A.H / 835 A.D)
  2. The compilation of Al-Muslim - A compilation of traditions written by Abu Al Husain Muslim Ibn Hajjaaj (Died 261 A.H / 840A.D)
  3. The compilation of Imam Tirmizi - Written by the great traditionist Abu Esa Muhammad Ibn Esa at Tirmizi (Died 279 A.H / 256 A.D)
  4. The compilation of Imam Abu Dawood - Written by Abu Dawood Sulaim Ibn Al Ashath (Died 207 A.H / 286 A.D)
  5. The compilation of Imam Nasai - Written by Ahmad Ibn Shuaib An Nasai (Died 303A.H I 882 A.D).
  6. The compilation of Imam Ibn Maajah - Written by Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Yaseed Ibn Maajah (Died 273 A.H / 852 A.D)

The school year of the Darul Uloom is the same as that of the Government Schools comprising three terms. Examinations are conducted at the end of each term of the three terms per school year.

Students are promoted only upon their successful completion of each school year having an overall average of 51% at the end of a school year.

With respect to Tertiary Islamic studies, students must successfully complete all subject areas and books of the Secondary, Intermediate and Advanced Islamic Studies before being admitted into the B.A. Degree.

The Advanced and B.A. Degree Islamic Studies are conducted by competent and qualified Islamic Scholars who hold B.A. and Masters in Islamic Studies from reputable Islamic Universities of India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and England.

The course work done by students enrolled in the B.A. Degree programme are mailed to the Head Institute, Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashaad, Bangalore, India for rechecking and endorsement and upon their approval the students graduate in this level of Islamic Studies.

Classes at The Darul Uloom are conducted on a daily basis from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

There are eight teaching sessions per day, each having a time allotment of 40 minutes.

For those enrolled in the B.A. Degree Programme, classes are additionally conducted before and after the official timings for classes as well as during the normal school holidays in order to complete the Syllabus.
